Bodega Ave. and High St. Intersection Improvements

Bodega Ave. and High St. Intersection Improvements

The City of Sebastopol has awarded a contract for the reconstruction of the intersection of Bodega Avenue and High Street. This intersection has suffered numerous pavement failures over the past decade, and only a complete reconstruction is seen as the solution. The reconstruction will include restoration of the in-pavement crosswalk flashers, although that work will be done under a separate contract later this year.

The reconstruction work will be done half of the street at a time. This means that, for some periods, Bodega Avenue will be limited to one lane, either west- or eastbound, depending on the phase. Emergency vehicles will, of course, always be accommodated. Other vehicles will be redirected in detours around the work area. Given the high traffic volumes through this intersection, significant delays are anticipated during the construction period. Motorists are advised to take alternate routes.

The contractor will start work on June 5. The first phase of the work will be to post advance warning signs giving the dates of closures so that motorists can be prepared in advance. Actual street closures will start June 7. City staff will monitor the progress of the construction, making adjustments to the traffic detours if possible.
