Kari Svanstrom Announced as New Planning Director

The City of Sebastopol announces the appointment of Kari Svanstrom as its new Planning Director, effective August 1, 2018. The position of Planning Director opened when Kenyon Webster, in the role since 1996, announced his retirement.

Ms. Svanstrom brings 17 years of experience in planning, including years as a private sector consultant focused on development of public spaces, community facilities, and park planning. Her recent experience in Mill Valley includes creation of mixed-use and multi-family zoning standards and design guidelines for infill development of the city’s commercial corridors and downtown area. In Mill Valley she also oversaw housing policy, cannabis regulation updates, and building code changes to respond to the 2017 Northern California wildfires.
