Sebastopol Welcomes New Mayor and Vice Mayor

Patrick Slayter has been elected as the new mayor of Sebastopol, and Neysa Hinton has been elected as vice mayor.

Incoming Mayor Slayter recognized outgoing Mayor Una Glass for her dedication, hard work, empathy, and intelligence. In his first address of his mayoral term, Mayor Slayter commented: “Instead of the state of the city, I prefer to make this address a call to action, given the strange days that we seem to be traversing. I urge everyone to donate to causes that matter as often and as generously as you can, with your time, your money, your expertise and your hearts. If every resident of Sebastopol, all roughly 7,200 of us, gave $10 and 1 hour of time once a month, that would equal $7,200 dollars are 86,400 hours of time. The opportunities to volunteer are endless. There are always organizations that need both time and energy.”

Mayor Slayter added, “I am strongly inclined to serving a more noble purpose whenever possible. Perhaps in the mold of a rebel with a cause, to put my natural inclinations aside and to step up for something I believe in, to help those in need. These actions are not taken to make me feel good, or us feel good, they are done because we care about each other. Right now, this moment in time, it is needed more than ever.”

This is Mr. Slayter's second term as mayor of Sebastopol. He first served in the 2014-2015 fiscal year. The 2017-2018 term will be Ms. Hinton's second on the Sebastopol City Council.
