The Building and Safety Department is responsible for the
administration and enforcement of the City of Sebastopol's
construction codes relative to new and existing development,
and alteration or repair to residential, commercial, and industrial
buildings and properties. The Department plans, coordinates,
and manages all city activities related to building and construction
inspections, including review of construction plans, drawings,
specifications for compliance with state and local requirements.
The Building and Safety Department also investigates complaints
regarding possible Housing Code and Ordinance violations,
gathers evidence with regard to said violations and issues
correction notices. The Department is also responsible for
consultation with architects, engineers, contractors, and
property owners concerning building construction and land
development.
