SB1383 Education

Senate Bill 1383, which went into effect in January 2022, requires that all California residents and businesses separate organic materials from the garbage so that they can be composted. All homes and businesses should now have a green bin for compostable materials. Additionally, large food producing businesses such as grocery stores must donate excess food to feed people and decrease food insecurity. For a list of commercial edible food recovery organizations visit https://zerowastesonoma.gov/materials/food.
